The annual anime film festival was on this past week, so I was really busy seeing what they had! The new releases I watched were: Summer Ghost (only 40 minutes so a bit different from the feature length films), Lonely Castle in the Mirror (same director as Miss Hokusai and some others), The Concierge at Hokkyoku Department Store, Blue Giant, Komada: A Whisky Family and Phoenix (adaptation of the Tezuka manga). And in between I saw a much older film, Galaxy Express 999! Overall I think they had a great selection this year, and all of what I saw is definitely worth checking out if you have a chance!
By the way, husky - Tunner to Summer was actually one of the films at this festival last year! What did you think of it?

Did you get to see it?
I don't see things as 'great or poor art work' unless it is haha very poor, then I likely wouldn't even finish it.
In Summer Tunnel, like WotH, I cried... 'nuff said...
I just watched it again and cried again, not complaining! It has happy and sad parts and enjoyed it just as much as the first time, if not more so...
My biggest complaint was, in some instances, the sub titles were too fast to catch completely and in a very few times, I saw the flash of a subtitle, but it was gone before I could even make out a word!!!
and the movie didn't subtitle the cell phone messages, at least on this copy. I tried for 'secondary subs', but either it just didn't go or there weren't any put in... If you can still read the Japanese characters, you might enjoy it better... Regardless, I LIKED IT!!! The Story, the graphics, the connections... and I WILL WATCH IT AGAIN1, for sure..

Yeah, I saw it! Sorry to hear the subtitles weren't so great on the version you saw. I don't remember any issues with that, and I'm fairly sure the messages were translated. I mean, they're so important to the story!

Watching Vinland Saga, and just finished watching Blue Eye Samurai (not sure if this is technically anime, but it is great animation!)

I often work on subtitles for Netflix trailers, so I could tell you were going through their library husky I can't say I've got around to watching any of the films myself, but recently I've been slowly getting through Pluto (also on Netflix) based on a manga by the same writer as Monster.
Also, Buta - is that the first or second season of Vinland Saga? I watched the first and really liked it, but I still need to see the second season.

I recently started watching the new Urusei Yatsura anime. I never got around to the old one (partly because it's so long!) so I thought this would be an easier starting point. It's quite old-school but it's fun so far.

I started the latest seasons of Hibike! Euphonium and Spy x Family but I haven't got far with them yet. I'm also watching the new Monogatari season and I'm a bit more motivated to keep on schedule because I know other people who are watching it too.

Not watching so much anime these days, but I did see a couple of very good ones lately.
First of all, Dungeon Meshi. I absolutely adore this one. The characters are so much fun and the world-building... the world-building! The little details of the dungeon's ecology and all the creatures living in it brings my naturalist's heart so much joy. I can't wait for the second season.
Second, The Apothecary Diaries. I'd read a bit of the novels a while back and enjoyed them, so I knew the anime would be good. It's about a young woman who's employed as a poison taster in an imperial China-esque setting.
One other series I watched a bit of recently was Akatsuki no Yona... It's one that's been on my to-watch list for years, but honestly? I was a bit disappointed. I think I got about eight or so episodes in and haven't continued it in a while. I got bored.

Dungeon Meshi is one I definitely want to pick up! I feel like I already know the characters pretty well just from absorbing information on tumblr.
I've heard of Akatsuki no Yona as being good, but any time I've looked into it, I came away thinking it didn't sound particularly interesting to me. Maybe I would end up feeling the same way about it as you.
