Yeah, it's really good.
You should continue watching. It gets better.
Though it might climax at around episode 25 (whoever has seen it knows what I'm talking about), it still stays absolutely brilliant until the end.

i heard this series was really creepy and contriversal,
most of the contriversey from china, and the main character is an evil psycho.
seems odd it would be good

It is good.. very good right until the very end in my opinion, JRR is right the climax comes and goes about three quarter way through the series so i'd prefer it shortened.. especially considering that at the end the otherwise brilliant writers just seemed to run out of ideas. but deffinately one of my newer favourites and id recomend you see it all, Farren.

The controversy stemmed mainly from: 1) The fact that the protaganist is "evil", 2) That alot of the series seems to suggest that his actions are in fact having a positive effect in many ways and 3) the fact that upon it's release reports of students making their own mock Death Notes became common.

Well, really it's just another form of bullying. except that i'd imagine the type of people doing it would be the students that are themselves picked on who want to feel some form of satisfaction through secret revenge on their tormentors. Not that that makes it okay..
I might be wrong but i think the their was even a dvd package released that contained a death note and pen with the series.
Some controversy is good in many cases.. it's part of the reason Death note is so good, it's new and a little shocking, pushing boundaries not only in anime but from a broader social perspective aswell.

Death Note is definitely right up there at the top of my list of the best series ever if I would be forced to make one.

It definitely anticlimaxed a bit in episode 25, but it was still a great series after that, and it was great seeing that satisfying final scene in the last episode.

The two part live action movie has the 'real' (as far as I'm concerned) storyline, which avoids the anticlimax of episode 25 which spawned from a need to extend the manga/anime to make more money.

This anime is the best. I've seen up to episode 15, and so far it has just blown me away. The suspense in every single episode just kills you! And the two main characters are really interesting. Raito is such a maniac, but he's ingenious and I love that. L's plain weird... but he's cute... and he's also a genius. So he's cool too. ^_^

"Raito"??? am i missing something or do you mean Light .. pronounced in japanese something like 'Light-oh'

i agree with you Necromas, i liked th way the two live action movies were contained in that smaller plot even if i was a bit annoyed at the ending of the first movie being so unresolved.
