I went to the cinema again, and saw Spirited Away this time. I'd never seen it in cinema before so this was really nice.

Watched a 1927 silent movie titled "Metropolis" A bit over 2 hrs long... Interesting in seeing the old style of filming done back then...

Spelling edit

Never seen that one, but I sort of feel like I should. Maybe one day.

I watched Get Out the other day. It had a lot of hype when it came out, but I never got around to it. I'm glad I ended up not really knowing much about the content. I think that made it more interesting to see.

While watching "Metropolis" (1927), I was reminded of other similar apocalyptic films that I have seen over the years in the infant days of movie making...
This somber film was radically different from "Steamboat Bill, Jr" (192 starring the legendary Buster Keaton...

I was taken by the hundreds of people depicted in many of the scenes. In one part of the film, there was a 'raging water flow' that must have had 50-100 young children struggling through the water and I was thinking to myself... Not is today's film industry...

I was wondering how much each of these kids were paid for these scenes... or even the adults... And the version I saw was over two hours long, but there were disclaimers that about 25% of the scenes were missing from the original...

Watched another little anime this evening titles, "Lu, Over the Wall" About a small fishing village and a little mermaid named 'Lu' who loves music and dancing... And when she is hearing and dancing to the music, her tail splits in legs and she and those around her dance wildly to the music, but when it stops her tail reforms and she saddens...

Last night I watched Hail Caesar. A bit hard to follow at times, but it was a fun watch. I really should try to get through more of the Coen brothers' filmography.

Not a movie, per se, but an hour and a half of some old 'Benny Hill'... When he had his show on American TV, I watched them all and enjoyed them, because we had nothing like it on our TV...

I enjoyed some of what I watched, but forwarded past some of the video...

Then I watched 3 episodes of 'Wallace and Gromit'... Very good... lol

Oh, my... I think I shall have some strong Cheddar and tea...

Just finished "Summer Wars"...

I've seen this before, but didn't realize it until I was part way into the story... Still enjoyed it and loved the very end...

At the weekend I watched a couple of films as part of an annual programme of Japanese films. Normally they tour cinemas around the country, but this year that wasn't possible so all of the films have been made available to book and watch for free online.

The ones I watched were Extro, a mockumentary about film extras, and Labyrinth of Cinema, a very strange anti-war film by a well-known experimental director who actually made a cameo in the first film too. They were two very different films, but both interesting in their own ways.

This last weekend, I mini-binge watched three of the Harry Potter series:

Prisoner of Azkahan;
Goblet of Fire;
and Order of the Phoenix...

I don't think regular members have an option for deleting posts... Editing out the mistake like that is fine, or if it's a problem I'm happy to delete it for you.
