Good-bye Neil Armstrong
When you next look at the moon, wink at it...
Remember Neil Armstrong, the first Man on the Moon...

Its a kind of sad end-of-an-era feeling. Something innocent and brave and almost foolhardy has passed away. All astronauts are truly brave people but the first men on the moon have a special place in history.
It is sad indeed, and so strange to think that it happened to long ago that one of them is now dead! I definitely get that end-of-an-era sense.

Just sitting here thinking that I was already out of the Navy when he stepped onto the surface of the moon... A long tme ago, but not that long, really as I'm still here...
edit:
I went to the wiki page about the first lunar landing and read it. It even has some recordings that I remember. Fascinating...
This is a photo taken later of the Apollo 11 landing site and shows the pathways that the astronauts left on the moon along with some equipment, including the landing base of the lunar module.

You can hardly say it wasn't long ago husky, with all due respect it was over forty years ago and that is a long time, well it is to me!
