Let's revive this topic a bit!
About Roar's question; I think the world is just the same as it always was; there is hapiness, health and welfare in the world but only for a little group of people. The biggest part of the world population is living in poor conditions and I regret that. Also, there are so many wars because of this unfair division of welfare, food, power. I fear there are only coming more wars because of everyone seems to want to have the power (sigh)and last but certainly not least; the climate problems. The tsunamis, earthquakes, flood and tornados...it will 'cause even more damage and pain in the future if we go on living like this and slowly damaging the earth even more, I fear.
So...this is all quite negative, but as for me personally speaking; I am living a good life and from my living place I could say the world is a happy, peaceful place. But I know that isn't true, as long as people are living, there will be fights and discussions and eventually wars and all that horrible events I fear and think so.
Well..my question;
What do you think of people with an other culture and religion then yours?

for my self, I have no problem with anyone's ethnic origin or country of origin or even religious background...
I have so many different ethnics groups and religions in my family that it would be difficult for me to be against any one of them. My biggest dislike is for people who subvert their religions or country's beliefs to forward their own agendas of hate and world dominence.
The trite saying, "Can't we all just get along", has real meaning for me..
The political problems in the Mid-East and Africa and Haiti and the Baltic and elsewhere in the world are, IMO, the differences of people wanting to put their own desires forward w/o regard for others of different desires with no thought of peaceful solutions.
Take, take, take... seems to be the mindset. The worst offenders of peace are fanatics who want it THEIR way and want it NOW!!! The actual count of terrorists in the world are quite small considering that the world's population is almost 7 billion, but because of their activities they get the most press. If there was some way we could clamp down on these people we might all have a better chance of a peaceful so-existance. Most people, given the choice, would opt for a peaceful life for themselves and their children.
However, I don't see it happening anytime soon...
=================
Do you see any kind of solution to the world's problems?

As far as the world's problems are concerned I just think there needs to be a complete overhaul of the way countries interact and their political systems. Personally I find communism unrealistic and though democracy is infinitely the superior choice I don't think the way it is employed in for example the UK government or America's is actually at all efficient. Getting past the mere fact that so much of the government is corrupted I just simply don't think the way they function makes sense. Politicians, espescially from what I can gather here in the UK, often come from academic backgrounds of say a History or Law degree and then spend years training how to debate or garner public affection. In my opinion a technocracy is a far more viable option.
(Technocracy: a form of government in which engineers, scientists, health professionals and other technical experts are in control of decision making in their respective fields.)
Once we get past politics being little more than big children who are ridiculously unspecialised for their roles throwing bargaining chips at each other than I don't think any world problems can possibly be solved. Once a truly more efficient form of government can be put in place throughout the major global powers than problems such as famine in other countries can be dealt with in turn. Basically I believe we need to stop relying on outdated systems of government and rennovate the way countries are run.

Ooh toughie. Either my unbelievable glass doll house or my baby sized walking, talking doll. Or maybe my yellow bike with training wheels. Lol. I was in awe of all these toys. Don't really remember the rest. Other than my toy piano, which my brother broke. xD I grew up around way too many kids, beaches and roofs (the flat kind) to actually need toys.

Who/what was the last person/thing that inspired you?

Scotland. My mother is Danish though.
And on that note, to the next person: do you have close relatives from countries other than your own?

No one very close, but I have a number of relatives who live(d) in England or have since moved to Canada but don't live near me. D: For a short time, my mother's family lived in Germany before she was born during the Korean war and my aunt was born (this might have been after if the war was in the early 50s, since my aunt is only a couple years older than my mother and so is my other aunt who was born a few years before going there. The dates don't quite go well with my family history, but I'm not sure when either of my aunts were born, I just know my grandparents knew each other and were in love since their teens, I believe, according to my grandfather's work book from when he was old enough to really work and he wrote down the dates and how much he got paid. The book is very tattery and old, like my great grandmother's passport which is how I found out about my grandmother's father, who was from England but died early on in her parents' marriage.).
My family has always seemed to love Germany after that, because of the kindness the people who might have spoken poor English used. There was an old couple who cared for them.
My great aunt is also from Austria, having moved here from there after the second world war. That's another huge part of my family history about her family and the war. I'm not sure if her late husband was my grandmother's brother or not, because I never met him, as I think he passed away in the 80s. She still has a thick accent and is always very lively for a past 70 year old woman. You would think she had the vibrancy of someone much younger.
We had ties to Ireland, but I suppose those died with my great grandfather. I do know a pair of twins and their cousins each possess a castle from Ireland. It's always interesting to know these things.
I'd like to locate where other family members come from, in England and Ireland, as well as Wales and Scotland and other places.

Do you own any traditional clothing from other countries? (i.e. I'm investing in trying to get a hanbok from South Korea in my size if it's available.)

Yes, a full set of clothing from Saudi Arabia including the underclothing (6 prs)...
This includes 2 white robes, 3 caps, the red/white checked kaffika (sic) and the rope coil that holds it down. I also have a hand-made pair of sandals and 2 Egyptian casual robes, one of which I wore while over there.... I still have them all and wear the Egyptian robes around the house on hot summer days. Raises some eyebrows when I go out to get the mail, lol. I sometimes wear the white robe, etc, on costume days like Halloween. I believe that one of the photos that I posted is of me in robe with a Palestine friend.
My son-in-law got carried away and bought all these in one day, the clothing anyway. The sandals took almost a week. The clothing fittings, etc, took quite awhile and were barely done in time before the call to prayer...
Which country would you most like to visit for a week?
